Electricity Human Resources Canada 2014 Forum

The Electricity Human Resources Canada 2014 Forum is dedicated to the electricity and renewable energy industry workforce. This half day national event brings business leaders and human resource professionals together. Attended by employers, labour, education, and government representatives working for and with the sector, the aim of this event is to connect, convene and inspire the industry.

Forrest EVP, Julian Chapman will be moderating a plenary session panel on The Canadian Military in Transition – Jobs for Soldiers in the Electricity Industry. A long-time serving member of the Canadian Forces, Julian is uniquely positioned to run this session, speaking to both the military and civilian business worlds.

Former Canadian Armed Forces members have the potential to become an integral part of the electricity and renewable energy workforce. Transitioning veterans possess at least basic training in a variety of areas. With additional resources and training for both the veterans and employers, it becomes possible to address the Canadian electricity industry’s most urgent human resources priority – closing the supply-demand gap. Speakers in this session will provide their perspective and experiences on how the industry can work together to engage this valuable supply of talent.

Featuring confirmed speakers Greg Matte, Executive Director of Helmets to Hardhats and Dwayne Cormier, Manager MET Career Transition Services for Canada Company, this is sure to be an educational and engrossing panel.

As part of the Chartered Professional Accountants’ of Ontario’s (CPAO) commitment to life-long learning, members are encouraged to participate in professional development. An encore performance from the spring's session, Forrest President Nick Forrest, has been invited back to deliver a one-day seminar on Coaching, running November 14, 2014.

This workshop provides participants with practical insight on why managers should coach their direct reports; and how, when and what to coach. At the end of this spirited interactive course, participants will be able to clearly articulate the benefits of coaching and know how to set up an effective coaching program within the parameters of a manager-direct report team.

As part of the Chartered Professional Accountants’ of Ontario’s (CPAO) commitment to life-long learning, members are encouraged to participate in professional development. Another encore performance, members will once again have the opportunity to attend a one-day seminar on Decision Making, led by Forrest President Nick Forrest, on July 10, 2014.

Participants in this program will learn how to make better decisions in their day-to-day work and lives. In this process they will learn how to open up their minds to all the relevant ways in which to achieve their goals.
